Twins 16th birthday-Donate to MOAS!

We are South African twins on a mission to raise money for refugees and migrants. We want to make our 16th-year count!

Campaign Details

The refugee crisis is one of the most pressing issues in today’s world. It is a global crisis spanning continents and countries such as South Sudan, Afghanistan, Myanmar and Syria. Each day, about 34 000 people – half of whom are children – are forced to flee their homes in search of safety and a better future. We decided to dedicate our 16th birthday to raising money for MOAS.

Our names are Aliya and Samiya Bhorat- twins currently in Grade 10, from Cape Town, South Africa. On the 9th of July 2019, we turned 16, and for the entire of our 16th year,  we will be raising funds for refugees worldwide. This initiative is also inspired by the fact that we share a birthday month with Nelson Mandela.  On the 18th of July, which is also Nelson Mandela Day- the world will again honour Mr Mandela’s life through a global call of action for people of all ages and walks of life to embrace the values of peace, compassion, freedom, equality, humanity and respect.

We would like to honour this by supporting MOAS. MOAS is responsible for aiding and supporting refugees worldwide. When we began to learn more about them, we were touched by their message, their organization’s values and all the work that they do to help refugees and migrants all around the world. Our goal is to reach €1600 before we turn seventeen (exactly a year from now). For the entire year, we will embark on a series of funding raising activities to reach our target. So, please support us in this initiative by either donating to this campaign or simply spreading the word to family and friends!
